They are everywhere in Central Florida. Sixty-seven white trucks with green logos. But who are they and what do they do? Sanford, Florida based Girard Environmental Services (GES) is one of the leading "green industry” companies in the nation, offering design services, construction services, and management services to companies and communities throughout Central Florida. But did you know they also offer residential services? GES opened their residential division just two years ago with plans to dominate the Central Florida market.
For their 1,000 - and growing - residential customers, GES provides lawn and shrub care, irrigation inspection and repair services, and early this year, will begin offering indoor pest control as well. Six more residential branches will be opened in Central Florida over the next five years. Surprisingly, GES does not provide residential lawn mowing. Instead, Rick Girard, chairman and chief executive officer, suggested they partner with smaller lawn service companies as part of their newly formed Residential Partners Program. ”We’ve developed our own network of companies that we recommend for the services that we don’t provide and in turn, they recommend us to their customers,” Rick explains. "Another important part of this program is that we help these guys in how they run their business,” he adds. "I had a lot of questions through the years and didn’t have many people to ask – especially people that understood my business.”
While the road to success was somewhat rocky for Rick, he never wavered in his belief that hard work and self-confidence would see him through the tough times. "I developed an unyielding passion to rebuild the Girard family name,” reflects Rick, "and I wanted to leave behind a legacy that would be realized for generations to come.” This year, GES will exceed $16 million in sales revenue, standing alone in its ability to offer such a wide variety and combination of services to both commercial and residential customers.
Along with his brother Randy Girard, the company’s president and chief operating officer, they are well on their way to creating the legacy they hope will make the Girard name synonymous with performance, quality, and reliability.
